We recently learned of the passing of our good friend and long-time trustee,
Jane MacDougall. Jane was a member of the Historical Society Board of
Trustees for 15 years. She was president in 1991 and 1992, took 1993 off,
then served as trustee from 1995-2000, as vice president from 2001 through
2007, and trustee in 2008. She was an active volunteer prior to becoming a
trustee. You could always count on Jane to produce and direct an interesting
float for the Memorial Day parade, with the help of her husband Rod, for
whom MacDougall Lane is named. Jane continued work on the float even
after Rod died in 1998. Besides encouraging Trustees to appear in historic
costume for open-hearth cooking at the Tunis-Ellicks house, Jane also
managed our annual Antique Show and Preview Party for many years. The
deviled eggs she made for that event were famous. She and her committee
always did a wonderful job. They were so good that once they all retired,
we had to hire a professional manager!
We miss Jane and send our condolences to her family and friends.
